This word is used of the deliverance of the Israelites from the Egyptians (Exodus 14:13), and of deliverance generally from evil or danger. In the New Testament it is specially used with reference to the great deliverance from the guilt and the pollution of sin wrought out by Jesus Christ, “the great salvation”
Definition of Salvation
“Deliverance from sin and its consequences, believed by Christians to be brought about by faith in Christ”
Key Scripture:

Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved (KJV)
There is salvation in no one else! God has given no other name under heaven by which we must be saved (NLT)
This brings an interesting question, is there another kind of salvation? For there is anything truth, isn’t there a lie? For everything real, isn’t there a counterfeit?
Do you know that this salvation by our Lord Jesus is also known as “great salvation”?
Hebrews 2:3 (KJV)
How shall we escape, if we neglect so great salvation; which at the first began to be spoken by the Lord, and was confirmed unto us by them that heard him;

How important receiving this salvation?
I heard somebody preaching, being saved and receiving the knowledge of salvation important than eating your next meal. What it means? Run to God for help if your life is not going in the right direction.
Being saved is one thing, it may be a onetime deal, but salvation is a continuous one. It’s a walk with God, confirming God’s many promises. Bible teaches that we experience salvation in all 3 tenses, past, present and future.
Past
When a person trusts God’s only son Jesus Christ, they are saved from the penalty or consequences of sin.
Romans 10: 9, 10
If you openly declare that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For it is by believing in your heart that you are made right with God, and it is by openly declaring your faith that you are saved.
John 5:24
I tell you the truth, those who listen to my message and believe in God who sent me have eternal life. They will never be condemned for their sins, but they have already passed from death into life.
Present
Presently we are being saved from sin’s power.
Romans 12:1, 2
“And so, dear brothers and sisters,[a] I plead with you to give your bodies to God because of all he has done for you. Let them be a living and holy sacrifice—the kind he will find acceptable. This is truly the way to worship him.[b] 2 Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect”
1 John 1:9
But if we confess our sins to him, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all wickedness.
Future
Eventually we will be saved from sin’s presence, When we are saved from the presence of sin it is known as glorification.

Dear friends, we are already God’s children, but he has not yet shown us what we will be like when Christ appears. But we do know that we will be like him, for we will see him as he really is.
