Christ Over viruses and infectious diseases (COVID)
Five smooth stones:
Just like the young boy David, bought down the Philistine giant Goliath with five smooth stones (1 Samuel 17:40 – 50), we as people of God , have to be ready with five smooth stones to fight and defeat any giant that we may face in this world we live in. Keep few scriptures ready to fight the battle to bring down your enemy in life.
Fear or Faith?
God is a God of order, God is a God of balance. When I pray and meditate and intercede in prayer for the people in the world, God speaks. God that I worship and serve, speaks to the situation. The situation about which we are praying for. This time its about the deadly Corono virus pandemic that the world is gripped with fear and confusion and frustration. Don’t get me wrong, history repeats itself. World has seen many pandemics before. Though as Christians, should not believe in any worldly quote other than Bible, we have to keep in mind that the plagues/viruses spread among people in the Bible as well. Interestingly we also notice that in more than occasion, the virus/plague being sent by God himself. One of such incident is taking place in the land of Egypt, to make a way for people of Israel to reach the Promised Land. We are not entirely sure (yet) as why God is allowing this pandemic at this point of time in the world. We have to trust God during this time. Is God preparing some portion of this world and people (His People) to the Promised Land ? We don’t know for sure, again we have to trust God. We have to trust in Life, with out life, we also have to trust Him in death.
I am a firm believer that all the Bible scriptures are interconnected, inter-woven. We cannot separate one scripture from another. We also cannot say, “I’ll take this portion of scripture, but not the other”. They all are connected to each other from the first verse to the last.
Fear is actually a spirit, which is NOT from God as we see in 2 Timothy 1:7 “For God has not given us a spirit of fear and timidity, but of power, love, and self-discipline” (NLT)
On the other hand, we see that Faith is actually from God (Galatians 5:22-23 – But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law) (KJV)
Filter and Fort:
God is our fortress and He is our strong tower, we can run to Him during our difficult times. He protects us from any harm. Psalms 91:2 “I will say of the Lord, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in him will I trust” (KJV) Psalms 91:3 “For he will rescue you from every trap and protect you from deadly disease.” (NLT)
God also revealed me more than once in my life that He is our Great Filter. He literally filters what reaches the people whom He loves. Without Him allowing, nothing can come to us. We have to believe that, He will not allow anything that hinders our progress/growth. We see this in Romans 8:28 “And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them” (NLT) Nothing can separate us from the love of God.
Let us bring down this giant (COVID-19 pandemic) by throwing these 5 smooth stones, because we are not simply coming with spear, sword and sheild to fight against our enemy, but we come against this enemy in the Name of our Lord Jesus Christ! (1 Samuel 17:45)
